Multicultural learning and teaching is a foundational value expressed within the New Zealand early childhood curriculum.

Ministry of Education (2017) Te Whāriki: New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum. Te Whāriki, emphasises: the critical role of socially and culturally mediated learning and of reciprocal and responsive relationships for children with people, places, and things. Children learn through collaboration with adults and peers, through guided participation and observation of others, as well as through individual exploration and reflection.

Little Buddies Learning centre believes in supporting the cultural identity of all children through ensuring that our programmes and resources are sensitive and responsive to the different cultures and heritages among the families of the children attending our service. Each year at the end of the month of Ramadan, the Muslims all over the world celebrate. To acknowledge and value the Muslim community of families, teachers in Little Buddies  celebrate Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Azha at the centre. We send invites to all the families and everyone joins us for celebration. Children get very excited and help as teachers decorate the rooms. Children create special cards to take home for their families on the special occasions. We provide special Eid delights and refreshments for the parents to enjoy during the pick ups and drop offs.
