At Little Buddies Learning Centre, our qualified and experienced educators understand that your child needs a skillful balance of new, dynamic and exciting learning experiences combined with the familiar and the predictable in a secure environment.
A typical day at Little Buddies Learning Centre would be:
Arrival in the preschool room, learning and interacting
We welcome children and families in the preschool room and children develop their self help skills by keeping their bags and belongings in their locker. Later, children are offered different activities related to our transition to school programme. Children may choose and enjoy different types of challenging activities set up in the learning environment which will help them to achieve their full potential.
Outside Area: Open
Teachers will set up activities outside to make children get ready for a fun energetic day. Children can choose, whether to engage in outdoor play/indoor during this time.
Morning mat time
The morning mat time begins with a meditative exercise sessions. This goes in line with calm music to increase their concentration and sense of calmness. During this time children and teachers sit together where children share their news from home, and discuss the calendar, weather, upcoming holidays, special events. (Matariki, Eid, Easter, Chinese new year, Diwali and Christmas)
Morning tea time
Morning tea time is our social time. Following the health and hygiene rule, all the children wash their hands before eating. We all sit and eat together sharing our interest and stories with friends. Here, teachers 'role model' the children and provide an opportunity for them to develop their practical skills like table manners, responsibility about tidying up after eating. Thereby, demonstrating care and concern for our environment and waste.
Indoor and outdoor play/ emergent curriculum based activities
Depending upon the emergent interest of the children, they are offered various activities that foster their skills and knowledge in all the areas of the curriculum in a pleasant environment. After that children engage themselves in self directed play inside or outside depending on the weather.For outdoor play, learning environment is set up and they are exposed to art, painting, obstacle course, sand pit, jumping on shapes, walking on lines etc. Whereas for indoor, activities such a family corner, reading corner, play dough, writing and painting corners are available. The room is set up for children’s learning process so that they are productively engaged in different areas.
Tidy up time/Getting ready for lunch
Teachers and children work together to prepare the room for lunch. They learn about being responsible for their environment and resources. During this time children are encouraged to put away the toys and this is the time for children to be responsible for their own well being and others.
Lunch time/Rest time/Quiet activities
Lunch time is another social opportunity for everyone to gather and eat and enjoy the healthy and delicious food served according to our menu. Again, teachers role model here for the children to develop their skills. Lunch is followed by a short relaxation time, where children will be provided books, pillows and blankets for a rest time. Later, after resting for 15-20 minutes, full timer children are taken outside and morning session children are offered quiet activities to engage as there will be other children sleeping inside.
Welcoming afternoon session children/self directed play
We are saying good bye to our morning session children and welcoming the afternoon session children and their families and answering any queries made. Children continue with self directed indoor play.
Learning and interacting time
Afternoon session children are also offered various pre-writing skills activities related to our transition to school programme. Whereas, full timer children enjoy a variety of activities of their choice which helps them to achieve their full potential.
Interactive session - Group Play/Physical Activity/Games
After free play times and small group literacy numeracy activities, children and teachers gathers together for a group game/activity. Later, they all begin tidying up the room together to prepare for the after noon tea.

Tidy up time and closing the room
Children tidy up the play area by sorting, arranging, grouping and taking the responsibility to put their resources back to the place where they belong. Making it nice and neat for the next day we close the room and go down to join with our toddler friends.
This is the time where we all join to enjoy our late evening snacks in a mixed age group environment.
Audio-Visual interaction/Home Time/Story Time
After the late snacks children watch various educational videos. This is the time to go home, so relaxing activities are offered. Everyone is getting ready to go home. Approaching towards the end of the day.

|7:00-8:00||Our teachers welcome children and families in the Babies room, parents will share with the teachers if there are any concerns about the child for the day, such as changes in sleep timing, bottles or any medication needed etc. Breakfast will be provided to the children as per parents request. Teachers will support the parents during the settling time and comfort children by providing individual care as needed.|
|8:00-9:00||After breakfast the children have time to play and learn at their own pace, with the many intriguing toys we have provided. This is also time for children to enjoy the planned daily activities for them by the teachers, such as painting, messy play etc.|
|9:00-10:00||Children nappy will be changed. the Nursery room schedules their nappy changes accordingly every two hours, beginning from 8:00am. The Nursery children continue free play and exploration with their teachers. Children will be supported to wipe their hands and get ready for the Morning Tea followed by the Kai Rituals. Children who can eat solids will enjoy the morning tea from our menu. Children will have their bottles at the specific times.|
|10:00-11:00||Children will be offered different play choices depending upon the emerging interests and teachers will conduct short group times/Mat times for those children who are interested. Outside will be set up depending on the weather.|
|11:00-2:00||Children have a nap after drinking their bottles, and will have a nappy check before sleep, each child wakes up at different times and are engaged with different activities such as books and blocks. Depending on what time the child wakes up, we will provide them with afternoon tea from the menu.|
|2:00-3:00||Children will have nappy change and will have a Mat time/Story times/Music and Movement session. Indoor-Outdoor flow will continue, depending upon the interest of children.|
|3:00-4:00||This is the time for children to explore the planned activities set for them by the teachers. Children will have sensory plays, art and craft activities etc depending on the emerging interest.|
|4:00-6:00||Children will have bottles as required on specific times and those children who requires a late nap, teachers will put them to sleep. For the rest of the children late snack will be provided and it will be time to get ready to go home.|
