Little Buddies Learning centre has been proudly serving the communities of Mount Roskill and neighboring areas for the last six years since its opening in July 2012 and our first state-of-the-art purpose build centre was constructed at 444 Richardson Rd, Mount Roskill. We provide all-day and sessional education and care for up to 90 children, including 10 babies from 0-2 years. Our nursery is a calm, safe, homely environment that provides familiar experiences alongside new opportunities for exploration and challenge for each and every child. A separate peaceful sleep room other than the nursery is available, recognizing that babies often need multiple sleeps during the day to provide a calming atmosphere where twinkling stars help to drift the little angels off to sleep. Babies are under constant supervision during sleep time and electronic sleep monitors with cameras are installed in the sleep room to ensure safe sleep. Sleep room is checked every 5 minutes.

We provide care and education for children from the diverse cultural backgrounds of the local community. Many families are new to New Zealand and we are glad to be a part of their first time in Aoteroa/New Zealand. LBLC is a unique set-up caring for children from extremely diverse cultural back grounds.

Transition to School Programme

Our families greatly admire us for our transition to school programme, which the teaching team in pre-school room has developed to provide a smooth transition to school for our little learners. We have a curriculum that:

To ensure this, over the period of 6 years we have established excellent relationships with the local schools  who we work in partnership for the positive learning outcomes of our children. We believe in making children’s learning knowledge, skills, attitudes, dispositions and assessment records visible to parents, new entrant teachers and support workers through documenting them in each child’s portfolio since the day a child joins Little Buddies Learning Centre. The teaching team at LBLC believes that new entrant school teachers need a solid assessment of each child in the form of portfolios to start his/her journey of learning at school.

New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL)

We acknowledge NZSL (an official language of New Zealand) in our teaching practice, as for some children NZSL is their first language, and we believe in our role as an early childhood service to support its use and development.

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)

We provide regular access to ICT for our children. ICT can be defined as “anything which allows us to get information, to communicate with each other, or to have an effect on the environment using electronic or digital equipment”. In early childhood education (ECE), the term ICT could include:

We believe ICT already has an effect on the people and environments that surround young children’s learning and these technologies offer new opportunities to strengthen many aspects of early childhood education practice to support children’s understanding of the nature of the technologies they encounter.
